 I initially came to Arizona Pain and Spine because I could no longer drive a car any distance, and I could no longer play golf. Severe and persistent back pain was threatening to make me inactive. Dr. Ryklin performed a series of spinal injections, and the pain stopped totally. I have driven on several long trips without problem, and I am back to playing golf regularly. I even won a couple of club competitions! The treatments made a major impact on my ability to stay active. The treatments were painless and everything was handled in a very friendly and professional manner. I recommend Arizona Pain and Spine to anyone seeking relief from persistent back pain.

I am writing this letter in hopes that people who are in as much pain as I am can get what I’m going to get, the Spinal Cord Stimulator. I’ll still have pain in my upper half of my body but having the lower half almost pain free would be incredible. I think God sent me to Dr. Khan. He’s the best doctor I have ever gone to and I’ve been to a number of pain physicians. He tries to help you by getting you well. Not just giving you drugs and sending you on your way. I suffer from Chronic Pain due to a complicated medical history involving scar tissue invading the base of my spinal cord. I tried everything including injections, different pain management physicians, physical therapy. Pain Medication seemed to be all that helped but I didn’t feel that this was a good long term solution. Then I found Dr. Ryklin at Arizona Pain and Spine Institute and the good people at Boston Scientific. After Dr. Ryklin explained the Spinal Cord Stimulator system I did the trial which worked very well for me. I had the Spinal Cord Stimulator surgically implanted. The system has improved my quality of life tremendously. |
| After I had been treated by Dr. Khan the next morning I woke up and I could feel relief in my pain as well as in my other symptoms. Three months post surgical laminectomy, I was still having severe back and leg pain and unable to walk, sit, or stand for more than a few minutes at best. Within weeks of being treated by Dr. Daniel Ryklin, I was able to walk some with a cane and
sit, but standing was an issue.
Dr. Ryklin
never gave up and tried a variety of ways to help me. After other measures didn't improve my condition considerably, he suggested I might benefit from a spinal cord stimulator. He performed the test surgical lead implant and the test went well. I am now 2 months post surgical implantation of the permanent stimulator and it has made a world of difference. I no longer use a cane and am able to sit, stand, and walk. Just last year I was feeling hopeless, now I'm an energetic, active participant in life thanks to Dr Ryklin's skill, knowledge, and perseverance in reducing my pain and improving my quality of life. I began to see Dr Ryklin in August of 2009, I was referred to his office by a surgeon who performed back surgery on me in 2007 I had gone thru many injections, medications and procedures to help with my back issues and pain. Shortly after I started seeing the Doctor he recommended we try a spinal cord stimulator to see if we could get my pain under control as well as reduce the amount of narcotics I was using daily. In December 2009 we did a trial usage and I found that it did reduce my pain! On January 4th of 2010 I had the stimulator implanted, this was one of the best things I could have done since that time I have greatly reduced my pain pill usage and also can once again do things with my friends and family that I was unwilling or just in too much pain to do. I found that using the Boston Scientific unit is a joy it has returned part of my life back to me. I also have become a ambassador for Boston Scientific to inform or ask any questions that other potential patients may have, this unit is not a new back but it has giving me back a great deal of my life along with the continuing care from Dr Ryklin and his staff.

| I was so skeptical to come to see yet another doctor because I had been to others and been told there was nothing wrong with me. After my first visit with Dr. Khan he gave me hope and spoke to me in a language I could understand. He explained what was wrong and what he could do to help me. I went from being on heavy narcotics to having minimal pain and almost narcotic free. My life has been given back to me and I’m so grateful for Dr. Khan and what he has done for me. When I first came to see Dr. Ryklin in 2008, I was in a lot of pain daily. For the last 2 years, Dr. Ryklin has modified my medication so that my quality of life has increased.
Where I was mostly bed-ridden before, I now am able to have a semi-normal life, I still have days when I have pain, but they are more bearable, and now I have more good days then bad days. On my good days, I am able to do more things normal people do. I am now able to play with my grand-son, ride my bike, go shopping for short periods of time.
Dr Ryklin is a very caring, and understanding doctor. He takes time to really listen to my questions and concerns. He answers my questions thoroughly!
I have to thank Dr. Ryklin for giving me my life back!

Hello, my name is Tammy. I am 49 years old, have two children, and have RSD. I have been in constant pain in my leg for the past eight years after injuring my right foot by stepping into a pothole. My future was looking pretty bleak, constant pain, depression because of all the things I could not do anymore, and my only relief was to be heavily medicated on pain medications.
Dr Ryklin changed my life. I started seeing him about three years ago. He assessed me and by my third visit he hold me of the spinal cord stimulator and how it would be an effective pain treatment for me. I watched the video, read the pamphlets and was sold. It look three years for the health insurance plan to finally approve me for the trial and surgery. I took the ten day trial and was amazed at how different my life was. I did not want to give it up after the trial but was assured that I would have the permanent implant within the month. It really did happen that way.
I had the implant put in on the 21st of July. Ninteen days later I walked into Dr Ryklins office for my appointment wearing shoes for the first time in eight years. I no longer need my scooter, wheelchair, walker or cane. I can get around fine. I am give up my hospital bed and move back into my regular king size bed with my husband for the first time in years.
I cannot thank Dr Ryklin, his staff, and the neurosurgeon and his staff enough for the change they have made in my life. I will be forever grateful to him for getting me the spinal cord stimulator and giving me my life back.

In November of 2006, I fell and hurt my back. The first doctor I went to gave me four epidural blocks within 7 months, to no prevail the pain was still there, and I would get worse when I would go to bed. Sleep was impossible. Then the next doctor I went to performed surgery and removed a small bone from my lower back. It didn’t help. Then I had 5 weeks of therapy, again no relief. I was at the end of my rope, I wanted to die.
Then, like a miracle, my insurance sent me to Dr. Daniel Ryklin to receive 3 treatments. From the very first treatment it worked. Dr. Ryklin gave me back my life. I now sleep like a baby. Thank you, Dr. Ryklin, for restoring my faith.
